What are the accommodation options for your guests?
Your guests can choose to stay in one of our Luxury self catering lodges. The lodges are available in 4, 6 and 8 berths and some have hot tubs. Your guests can book on line or through our reception using a special discount code that is issued to you at the time of booking. We can accommodate up to 150 of your guests.
How many people can attend a wedding at Whitsand bay?
Our indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces are licensed for up to 150 guests. We can comfortably sit 130 for your wedding breakfast and up to 200 for a more informal meal.
What is the payment process?
After your deposit is paid we don’t ask for anything else until 8 weeks prior to the date. You are however welcome to pay in installments and we are happy to arrange a payment plan at your convenience.
Can we reserve a date without paying a deposit?
We can make a provisional booking for 7 days without a deposit.
When is the final payment due?
We ask for the balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to the wedding. Where late availability or Elope weddings are booked with less that 8 weeks to go we ask for 50% at the time of booking at 50% 4 weeks before the wedding.
How late can we cancel our booking?
Deposits are non refundable. We realise that sometimes circumstances change and so we are able to offer one change of date within a 12 month period without loss of deposit. After the final balance has been paid we are unable to offer any refunds. We recommend you take out private wedding insurance to cover any eventuality.
Can we change the date of the wedding?
We realise that sometimes circumstances change and so we are able to offer one change of date, up until 12 weeks prior, subject to availability within a 12 month period, without loss of deposit.
What are the catering options?
We offer a large range of catering options at the Fort. We do not allow outside caterers but can create bespoke menus to suit your budget and requirements. Take a look at our sample menu for our full range of catering options.
How many people can you cater for?
We can cater for a formal sit down meal for up to 130 guests and a more informal buffet or hog roast for up to 250 guests.
Who performs the marriage ceremony?
The marriage ceremony is performed by the Registar. Our local registry office is Saltash, detail of which can be found here- https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/advice-and-benefits/cornwall-registration-service/cornwall-registration-offices/saltash-registration-office/
What time can an evening reception go on until?
Our bar and music licence allows the party to continue until 12am. We ask that the guests have departed the venue by 1am. A late night licence can sometimes be granted upon request.
How many cars can the car park take?
We have ample parking for all your guests and staff are on hand to direct your guests to the parking area upon arrival.
Is there a member of staff on the premises of all time?
Yes our wedding coordinator is on hand throughout all the preparations and during the day and evening.
Can we have a marquee?
Yes an area is available should you wish to have a marquee reception.
What time does the bar open/close?
The bar opens as soon as the ceremony has taken place or, if you have married elsewhere, from the time your guests are due to arrive. The bar is fully staffed by memebers of our team and is open until 12am.
If it rains and we have our wedding booked for outside do you have a contingency plan?
Yes our Vaults Chambers are licensed for up to 65 guests and The Vaults Suite for up to 150 guests. In the event of bad weather the ceremony can be brought inside with just 2 hours notice.
What time can we access the venue?
We offer access to the venue from 1pm-11pm the day before the wedding and again from 9am on the day of the wedding.
When will Whitsand Bay contact me before the big day?
After your initial booking we remain in regular contact with you in the run up to your wedding. You are also welcome to visit us again as often as you wish. We meet with you eight weeks prior to the day to have a final run through and discuss any amendments you wish to make.
